Katie Hopkins was a contestant on The Apprentice in 2007 and gained a response through her critical remarks on the show, who is also a columnist for The Sun newspaper and a business woman. Since then Katie has entertained the general public on shows such as: I’m a Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here! and Celebrity Big Brother, but it was her divisive opinions that were to question, although Katie justifies this by ‘having the right to an opinion’. This much is true, without an opinion we wouldn’t be individuals and we can’t all agree on everything, hence developing our own opinions, on the other hand if an opinion is discriminating, hurtful and spiteful, should it be expressed? Katie has been known to make insulting comments on obesity, immigrants, chosen names, Ebola, tattoos and more.
The online activist and hacking group Anonymous have issued a video insisting that Katie apologise for the cruel words she has said towards people, voicing that we are all the same, giving Katie the ultimatum that her life is in danger and her details will be exposed if she doesn’t agree to this. The Metropolitan Police are said to be investigating the case and if caught the person responsible could be sentenced to 6 months in prison. The investigation is still ongoing and the Metropolitan Police said, “Police in Westminster are investigating an allegation of malicious communications against a 40-year-old woman reported on Tuesday, 30 June.” What is your take on this? Do you think it is right Katie Hopkins was threatened by Anonymous? or Do you think this was too much? Have your say and share your thoughts below and take a look at the video at the top of the page.
