Netflix has consistently been building their own back catalog of exclusive shows, including original dramas such as House of Cards and Orange is the New Black. To further boost their list of shows, a show is in the works surrounding the life of Pablo Escobar entitled Narcos and last night saw the release of the first official trailer.
Narcos chronicles the gripping real-life stories of the drug kingpins of the late 1980s and the corroborative efforts of law enforcement to meet them head on in brutal, bloody conflict. It details the conflicting forces – legal, political, police, military and civilian – that clash in an effort to control the world’s most powerful commodity: cocaine. Based on the true story of real-life DEA agents Javier Peña (Pedro Pascal) and Steve Murphy (Boyd Holbrook), Narcos follows the agents as they chase down Escobar (Wagner Moura) during the height of his 1980s Medellín cartel.
Directed by Jose Padilha (Elite Squad), the historical drama also stars newcomer Stephanie Sigman, soon to be seen as the newest Bond girl in the upcoming 007 film Spectre. Narcospremieres on Netflix on Aug. 28.
