Asics had to make it special for the 25th Anniversary of their beloved Gel Lyte III. Who better to collab with than Japanese retailer Invincible, another brand to add to their 2015 collaborative collection. Asics themselves have had a busy year sharing the love, collaborating with just about every popular brand on earth. According to Highsnobiety, the trainer is based around “paying homage to the retailer’s Taiwanese roots, the “Formosa” is a nod to the nation’s “lha Formosa” nickname, which translates to “beautiful island” “. However, some sneaker blogs would suggest the name actually comes from a bird named ‘Accipiter Trivirgatus Formosae‘, a.k.a the Crested Goshawk. Whichever one’s correct (they both might be) the shoe is a fantastic, coming in a scattered suede two-tone grey upper. The heel is split into a colourful red, blue and white trio, which stands out amongst the heavy grey and shining white. The ASICS x Invincible Gel-Lyte III ‘Formosa’ will be released sometime today, with stockists currently unannounced, it is likely available on the Asics/Invincible site. Check out the shoes above.
