We’ve heard of solar powered roofing, lighting and even a solar powered plane, but the most inventive so far is India’s solar powered airport. Making it the first of its kind in the world, Cochin (Kochi) International Airport in Kerala runs solely off natural resources. The transition from traditional energy resourcing to more environmentally friendly wasn’t cheap. At a steep $10 million the airport invested in a solar power plant. Will India’s airport be the start of a new energy saving tactic for other airports? Who knows, but it’s definitely something we will see more of in the future.
