We see that amalgam of elements present throughout the J.J. Abrams predecessor films (he bailed for Star Wars) of the reinvigorated adventures of the Starship Enterprise and it’s crew; a comedic edge in an often intense and energetic scene. Justin Lin is taking the directorial reigns on the latest instalment of Star Trek.
A reminiscent thought of a young Capt. Kirk (Chris Pine) blazing his way down a desert speedway whilst being pursued by the 5-0. See dictionary definition of the word, ‘Maverick’. The same carefree attitude can be seen when Kirk puts on ‘Sabotage’ by theBeastie Boys.A perfect pairing as the on screen drama unfolds.
Presumably after entering an asteroid field, the Enterprise looks in a state of disrepair and it’s crew scattered. Spock (Zachary Quinto) and McCoy (Karl Urban) in a mexican standoff with an alien craft. Until Spock gets outta dodge. Beam me up, Scotty.
Then we are shown a sprawling metropolis, reflecting director, Justin Lin’s previous works like Fast and the Furious. Not forgetting, some bleached-white alien equivalent of Bruce Lee littered with tattoos kicking all kinds of ass. Presumably this is Sofia Boutella who rose to fame with her appearance in Kingsmen: Secret Service, earlier this year.
We are also treated to a first glimpse at Idris Elba, as the films villain. We think?!
