Bonkaz makes a statement with his ‘Mixtape Of The Year’ EP

South London’s Bonkaz burst onto the scene in 2015 with his anthem ‘We Run The Block‘, which led to his subsequent signing to DJ Target and Danny Weed’s Sony/Pitched Up imprint. The Thornton Heath artist then went on to release his Forgive Me When I’m Famous EP, impressing fans and earning himself a Best Newcomer nomination at the 2015 MOBO Awards. This, alongside his rap battle with Hitman Holla and his track ‘You Don’t Know‘ showcasing his mainstream capability, made for a very successful year for the young artist.

Now, Bonkaz is ready to kick off 2016 with a bang with his latest mixtape entitled Mixtape Of The Year, a culmination of all his efforts so far and is certainly set to prove any doubters of his barring ability very wrong. The first release from the project, ‘And Dat‘, dropped at the back end of 2015 and it was clear what level Bonkaz would be setting. With his authentic flow and undeniable talent, the track was a salute to his South London roots and his hometown artists including Krept & Konan, SN1 and NAA.

Mixtape Of The Year comes just days after his ‘One Take‘ freestyle, which had him facing up to the tag team of Big Tobz and Blittz and the EP is in the same vein as that track, with the track ‘King Of The Flows‘ dropping some very serious hood heat. Features come in the courtesy of Stormzy, Yxng Bane and Blade Brown while Bonkaz teams up with a few frequent collaborators on production; Jay Jay Musika, Nyge and The Writers Block – as well as recruiting US producers Chase N Chase [on ‘Paid on Full 2‘.
