Vic Mensa has always been known to speak his mind on current events and his latest release seems no different with the Chicago MC talking on the issue of LGBT rights and equality on ‘Free Love‘. Not only has the recent tragic mass shooting at Orlando nightclub Pulse inspired Vic, but a personal situation with a family member coming out as homosexual. The release coincides with this year’s Pride celebrations, with large events held up and down the country and beyond, celebrating the right to love who we wish and not to be ashamed. Vic coupled his release with a letter that urged fans to think openly and embrace others;
The newly unveiled song finds Mensa enlisting help from Lil B, Halsey, Malik Yusef, and Le1f, who together attack bigotry and traditionalism as they advocate for LGBT equality. “Free love is not a luxury,” Vic states with a sing-song delivery. “You can f*ck who you want to f*ck.” Well that sounds like a righteous cause to us.
