New Artist In Hiding H.E.R. drops infectious debut

The R&B scene has been on the up this year. With a rejuvenated feel to the genre, mass success from the likes of Frank Ocean, NAO and Usher, and a Grammy nomination for Kehlani‘s R&B fuelled ‘You Should Be Here‘ release, it’s fair to say that the pocket is back like it never left the mainstream. Mysterious new act H.E.R. seems ready to join the market as she recently dropped her debut project H.E.R. Volume 1 to Apple Music and other streaming outlets via RCA, with zero promotion at all. For a fresh act that’s rare, especially when signed to such a juggernaut of an imprint.

Despite this, the EP dived in at #1 on the iTunes R&B chart this week and even got a push from pioneers Alicia Keys and Wyclef, proving that perhaps her mystique is just the branding to ensure her success. The project itself is instantly infectious. Both vibed out and passionate, H.E.R. drops some knowledge about relationships and realises her self-worth throughout. By the end of the EP she’s got you rooting for her new-found self confidence. H.E.R. Volume 1 is a must listen!

Before leaving it there however, curiosity killed the cat and after some digging details emerged which may (or may not) be true about the identity of H.E.RGabi Wilson is heavily rumoured to be the true identity of H.E.R. It works out as Gabi‘s last label release ‘Something To Prove‘, was released via RCA also. Regardless of whether Gabi and H.E.R. are the same person or not, one things for sure, the music is amazing, and hopefully not the last we hear from H.E.R.
