Just after the promotion of her recent single ‘Like Home‘ [a sultry R&B jam that showcases the Brisbane songstress’ musicality, vocal mastery and good vibes in general], Australian emerging singer-songwriter and promising new star in the making JOY. is back with more music in the form of ‘Birthday‘. The auto-tune heavy track features US artist Lil Aaron who has worked with the likes of Kiiara and D.R.A.M.
The song produced by JOY. herself is a sexy and heavy auto-tuned slow burning jam fused with some influences from hip-hop music, trap and future R&B. The same kind of woozy Kiiara vibe can be heard on this track and it really suits JOY. It’s the most hip-hop cut she’s ever released and she sounds like she’s in her element. JOY., who has also collaborated with top Aussie hip-hoppers such as 360 and Illy, plans to release a mixtape [or “beat tape”, as she calls it] next, an EP and then an album.
‘Birthday‘ is another taste of her upcoming second EP, and follow-up to ODE, released back in 2015 via Sony Music Entertainment.
