Frankie Mar releases her debut EP, with the 5 track project drawing on themes of nature and intimacy through a unique blend of indie, soul and classic songwriting. Influenced by the likes of ‘everything everything’ and ‘daughter’, she loves obscurity within music, and the EP demonstrates an intense honesty buried amongst this distinctive sound.
Frankie left the British academy of new music a few years ago and has been developing her sound ever since and describes it as “constantly evolving”. This is a great introduction to the world of Frankie Mar, matched with fantastic production from Julian Wharton and leaves us wanting more, which hopefully we won’t have to wait too long for.
Talking on the project, Frankie said; “I’m the typical artist who starts lots of things but struggles to finish them! So finding a producer who could be the other half creatively was a big deal- and we finished the tracks just the two of us. For me the music I write I want it to reveal something, often darker matters I don’t discuss in daily life, yet allowing the tracks to still have energy, as opposed to writing a load of soppy love songs. I suppose It’s the release of being able to say whatever you want without anyone butting in, and having the opportunity to get these notions that sit within you down on paper“.
