Dreamville’s Ari Lennox drops her debut “PHO” EP

Ari Lennox releases her intro the industry with a fresh and soulful 7-track project entitled, the “PHO” EP. She firstly appeared on the Revenge of The Dreamers II LP, which is a compilation album of songs from artists on IB J. Cole‘s Dreamville label. She is the first singer signed and distributed through them, so this is a special and exciting moment for both parties. One thing that stands out instantly on the project is her personality on tracks. Unique & distinguishable, it’s likely people will digest her music in a similar light to SZA, Rochelle Jordan etc. However comparisons are unnecessary, as she brings something completely different in her approach.

There is no reason for using your skip button throughout this one, as right from the jump you’ll be hooked. Every track is brilliant, with a few standouts including  “Cold Outside” and “GOAT“. The obvious hit is “Backseat” featuring fellow label mate Cozz, as track two makes its appearance once more. For those that prefer a bit more running time on their tracks, “La La La” sees the singer serenade us for nearly 6 minutes straight. A healthy combination of jazzy instruments, hip hop influence and soulful vocals offers a valid excuse to make an irresistible download/purchase.
