21 year old Toronto crooner Daniel Caesar has been steadily working on new music since the release of his 2015 EP Pilgrim’s Paradise, only releasing a live version of ‘Won’t Live Here‘ back in February. Now he has teamed up with Colombian singer Kali Uchis, in a tender ode to being love. The single, produced by Caesar’s long-time collaborators Jordan Evans and Matthew Burnett, reminds us all of Caesar’s steady climb to fame as he paves his own unique path through Toronto’s pool of talent.
‘Get You‘ is a slow R&B burner with 90’s vibe with hints to the giants preceding the lovestruck artist. There’s a tinge of Maxwell’s vocal warmth and a dash of D’Angelo’s in-between-the-sheets lyricism, a romantic combination that will pacify even the most heavy hearted.
“I met a girl and got very involved. She brought things and feelings out of me that I didn’t know I had. ‘Get You’ is a song of praise to a love I didn’t even feel I deserved at the time,” Caesar told Billboard, who premiered the track. “Being with someone you truly adore and being present enough in the moment that the world literally slows down and you ask yourself how did I stumble into this? I’m always shooting myself in the foot, but I’m in here“.
