Lewisham native Fly teams up with fellow South Londoner Moelogo for the perfect anthem to end the year with, named after the illustrious dancehall artist Vybz Kartel. Fly is an artist who believes in living in his truth and that for him is to embrace his natural singing ability as well as his talent as a lyricist. Produced by D.Knights Artworks, the track incorporates sounds of new age Hip Hop laced with the serenading vocals from British–Nigerian artist Moelogo.
“Vybz Kartel is inspired by me coming out of a long term relationship and just being in a space where I feel like I can be real honest with females, I’m basically saying you’re in good company and if you want we can chill and catch a vibe together but that’s all it is for me right now”
Developing his love for music at the tender age of 11, Fly formed a singing group at his church; the group would sing there, take part in showcases and talent shows every week. It was from that moment Fly knew music was more than just a passion for him–it was slowly becoming a way of life. Taking inspiration from some of RnB’s greats such as; Usher, Boys 2 Men and Jagged Edge, Fly began to refine his sound as a singer/songwriter. His love for lyricism was sparked during his Secondary School years as MC’s like P Money which influenced Fly to experiment more within his music.
Fast forward to the last couple of years and Fly has released 3 mixtapes, worked with an array of artists who range from; P Money, Little Dee, Paigey Cakey, Lady Leshurr, Starry Nathan, Jermain Riley, J Warner and of course now Moelogo. Fly plans on continuing to grace the scene with moreamazing music as he works on producing another full body of work, proving he is an artist who is going to be making a lot of much needed noise in the New Year!
