Fresh off winning the 2016 Polaris Prize for his album 99.9% [and dropping successful mixtape 0.001%], Montreal producer Kaytranada has dropped a killer remix of Solange’s ‘Cranes in the Sky‘, off the singer’s recent album A Seat at the Table. Kaytranada previewed the cut during a set at New York City’s Terminal 5 last week, but he decided to release the full version after embracing “how good it sounds.”
Kaytranada explained via SoundCloud: “I couldn’t help it and I can’t deny how good it sounds. This is just an edit to play on my DJ sets.I played it once and everybody wanted it right away. Honestly, I was gonna wait to see if Solange or her team or whoever works for her would’ve asked me to do an official remix. If they still want to, I could make it sound better than this version but oh, what the hell.”
