Back in January this year, we featured Ray BLK as one of early One To Watch and since then, she has gone from strength to strength. As well as being part of our #IWD2016 UK Females To Watch 2016, Ray has performed on stages up and down the country, as well as notable appearances at this year’s Rated Awards and Later…With Jools Holland. Her tracks ‘50/50‘ and ‘My Hood‘ [feat. Stormzy] have made her one of one exciting artists to come out of the UK over the past 12 months. Now with the year drawing to a close, Ray BLK has dropped her highly anticipated “mini album” entitled Durt.
Speaking on the project, Ray said;
“A lot of growing up happened in the year it took me to make this mini album. These songs are about me becoming an adult and being frank about the experiences that have brought me here”.
Durt features her previous releases alongside 5 new releases, including latest track ‘Chill Out‘ [feat. SG Lewis]. The project clearly demonstrates her broad capacity as a young musician and allows everyone to appreciate the various styles of music that help shape her unique talent. With two sold out shows already under her belt this year [Hoxton Bar & Kitchen/Bush Hall], Ray recently announced her Village Underground show for February 27th 2017. Tickets are on sale now. She is also nominated for Best Newcomer at this year’s MOBO Awards.
