While still prepping his anticipated debut album, Children of the Rage, over the weekend OG Maco did, however, unleash a new project for his fans. Titled For Scott, the six-track EP is in turn dedicated to Kid Cudi. Last month, as most of you know, Kid Cudi checked himself into rehab due to bouts with depression. Almost immediately, fans and peers alike took to social media to express their concern, well wishes, and admiration for Cudder. It’s not difficult to hear Cudi’s influence on For Scott‘s melodic, anxiety-laden rap.
This weekend, Cudi made his first public appearance since he checked himself into rehab for depression in early October. He performed at ComplexCon, and brought out Pharrell and Travis Scott. His next LP, Passion, Pain & Demon Slayin’, is currently delayed due to sample clearance issues. Although Cudi is currently involved in very public feud with Drake, a number of people have offered their support for him during his rehab stint. Kanye West has called Cudi his “brother,” and dedicated songs to him live. Saturday Night Live‘s Pete Davidson said in a recent interview that Cudi and his music saved his life: “I truly believe if Man on the Moon didn’t come out, I wouldn’t be here,” he said.
In paying tribute, OG Maco then left this message on his SoundCloud page, along with For Scott:
“For the man on the moon who taught us all not to give a fuck. You are our big brother. Fight On. Dream On.”
