Newcastle three-piece SoShe are looking to expand their fanbase with debut track, ‘Showed Up’. It is the first single from their forthcoming, as yet untitled debut EP and features Cadet. The inclusion of one of the most important young emcees in Grime at present, who asked actually asked to jump on the track after hearing it – shows a measure of SoShe’s serious reputation. A bass-heavy production highlights Dayna’s powerful vocal and defiant stance on the record. Creating everything from their cover artwork to all musical aspects themselves, SoShe are ready to burst onto the scene.
Both polished and full of heavy trap influences, mixed in with a home-grown synchronicity between the three-piece that makes for a flawless bass lines and addictive lyricism. Produced by Dan Austin (Doves, Pixies), this is a consummate introduction to a home-grown group that’s making all the right connections and all the right sounds. ‘Showed Up’ is the start of something special from the Newcastle upstarts.
