UK producer/artist CallMeTheKidd has dropped visuals from the title track of his new Debut EP The Becoming, which was released in September. Directed by himself and cinematographer Emmanuel Boadi, the aesthetically pleasing video encompasses the theme of his project with nostalgic concepts. The North London musician displays soulful vocals over a smooth R’n’B beat which he produced himself.
“Shooting a video for this track was very important because it was the first time using music to share my story. It’s about me finding myself and my calling, so I wanted it to be intimate, whilst conveying both my music and life journey.”
With the core theme being reflection, the 25-year-old recalls the distractions and obstacles he faced before evolving into his true self. Using low colour saturation and soft image, it resembles a film look of the early 90s, denoting the nostalgic theme of the video. The scenery and locations also play a key role, with shots of wide landscape in Dorset and behind the scenes studio footage.
