North London rapper King Kay is an artist that people need to get to know. Combining a variety of influences from hip-hop and R&B to jazz and neo-soul. His 2015 debut project Mr Gatsby was a beautifully titled concept project, “uniquely ambitious in it’s undertaking”. Alongside tracks like ‘Wave David‘, ‘Shoreditch Resident‘ and ‘The Revolution‘, Kay is crafting a lane as one of the most exciting urban artists on UK shores in the past few years. L Ø S T C U L T U R E even had the pleasure of premiering his latest video, ‘Dona Evita Drive‘ which saw him living the life in LA.
For his latest track entitled ‘Too Deep‘, Kay has looked overseas for inspiration and covered OVO artist dvsn‘s track of the same name. The track is a testament to Kay’s talent as his voice effortlessly flows over the nineteen85 produced beat. The female sample elavate the track and make it bounce along as Kay controls the lyrics. He will surely be looking forward to 2017 and it will be interesting to see what he delivers next.
