The weekend is finally upon us and there is no better way to celebrate than with some new music. This week marks the return of our Cloud 9 series, which if you’re unfamiliar, compiles the best nine tracks dropped on SoundCloud during the past seven days. However, we hope you’ll forgive us on this one, as it features tracks released within the past month. So think of this as a sort of, April Cloud 9!
Please Note: these songs are not compiled in any particular order. Without further adieu, sit back, plug-in to the “Cloud of Sound” and relax as we present;
LØST CULTURE – CLOUD 9: 058.
1. glue70 X KinKai – All I Can Send (prod. glue70)
Standout producer glue70 and skilled lyricist Kinkai team up once more for “All I Can Send“. The two Mancunian talents meet frequently on record, always giving off some super soulful vibes and hitting you with introspection too. These wonderful collaborative loosies will hopefully result in a joint tape or album one day, with a slice of their evident chemistry shown on the release above. Fans of our LC Soundoffshoot should enjoy this hugely!
2. A2 – GSD
A2 is frequently mentioned as one of the most slept-on artists in London, always bringing a fresh variety of sounds, genres and flows in his music. The South-London rapper, singer, producer and more, always brings quality to table and this time round presents a summer time – slightly house influenced – release in “GSD“. Skipping from R’n’B to Grime and back again, the diverse and unique artist doesn’t really lack much musically. Enjoy one of his latest, “GSD” now.
3. Ojerime – Handle
Ojerime is another artist who can do no wrong, maintaining an impressive level of consistency with her latest release, “Handle“. This infectious drop is amongst two fire bodies of work and many fantastic loosies, all available to hear on her SoundCloud. Bringing back that 90’s/noughties classic R&B vibe with some contemporary style, it’s a “what you see is simply what you get” type of thing. Wehave featured Ojerimeonce before and are delighted to once again highlight her music. Expect soulful melodies and equally perfect harmonies throughout.
4. Kieron Boothe –No Weak Ends (prod. ksun)
UK Hip Hop as a whole simply does not get enough shine over Trap rap, Drill and Afro Swing, however some phenomenal rappers have emerged since the turn of the decade. Kieron Boothe is in this category, experiencing a steady but purposeful rise to prominence. The track above “No Weak Ends” displays a lot about him as an artist. Highly consistent too and improving as a lyricist track by track, make sure you don’t skip this one for sure!
5. WorldOfBrown – The Dreamer’s Anthem (prod. TIGGI)
As we travel overseas, another exciting rapper on the come up goes by the name ofBrian Brown. Dubbed WorldofBrown on most platforms, he recently dropped “The Dreamer‘s Anthem“, a song aply named for its feel-good rhythm. TDE‘s Isaiah Rashad is commonly brought up alongside his name, mainly due to them being longtime friends and a part of the same collective, theHouse. The song received some cool visuals – which you can see here.
6. Aus Taylor – ‘PLAY’ – W/ Hollywood JB & JURDANBRYANT (prod. HENNEYSEE)
This is our first run-in with Aus Taylor, who appears to be offering a brilliant start to his catalogue. “PLAY” features Spillage Village members Hollywood JB and JurdanBryant andmight be the most relaxing two minutes of music you’ll hear all week. For extra info: other SpillVill members include the likes of EARTGANG and J.I.D, who are signed to J. Cole‘s Dreamville imprint. Supreme piano keys, chilled adlibs and JB‘s equally supreme lyricism are the standouts here.
7. Alina Baraz – I Don’t Even Know Why Though
Alina Baraz is the name on the lips of many right now, recently dropping her single “I Don’t Even Know Why Though” and premiering the video on Complex. The talented singer joins the next generation of R&B/Soulful Pop acts amongst the likes of Sabrina Claudio, Kehlani, H.E.R, SZA and more. The song is taken from Baraz‘s new project, “The Color of You“, which she worked closely on with Khalid – yet another beloved next gen superstar from the genre. See the video here.
8. Eli Sostre – Disloyal (prod. SORIANO)
Teasing his new album set to arrive this summer, Brooklyn talent Eli Sostre releases melody driven cut “Disloyal“. This song shows one aspect of his diverse style, however there’s always an R&B or Soul influenced element in his songwriting/beats. As usual, this one arrives courtesy of Soriano who produces a fair slice of Eli‘s releases. Stream the smooth cut above and stay glued to Sostre‘s SoundCloud/social media for news on the upcoming LP.
9. YellowStraps – Idle Talk
Belgian trio Yellow Straps hits us with their final single“Idle Talk“, following on from their highly popular title track, “Blame“.
