Footwear specialists Vans dedicate their latest collection to legendary hip hop group, A Tribe Called Quest, honoring their significant contributions to the genre’s wide span culture. The drop sees classic models such as the Slip-On, Old Skool, Authentic, Sk8-Hi, and Era included, designed with references to ATCQ‘s album artwork and song lyrics. The delivery arrives in partnership with Sony’s The Thread Shop, who are a Grammy Award-winning fashion merchandising agency.
The pairs see heavy tones of black and white throughout, featuring fine retro detailing which alley oops the collection’s overall nostalgia. Vans Slip-On nods to the group’s final project “We Got It From Here… Thank You 4 Your Service“, whereas the Sk8-Hi calls back to Tribe’s standout “Bonita Applebum” release. The Vans x A Tribe Called Quest collection launches tomorrow (April 6th) at their online store here. Items will arrive after the special two-day pop-up event at House of Vans Brooklyn, which took place on March 30 and March 31.
