Y.A.S. shows stunning songwriting on infectious single, “100 Years”
Y.A.S. is back with another infectious single in “100 Years“, marking the singer’s third release in recent months. Drawing heavily from traditional House music, the rising talent displays a sharp pen, as she co-writes a set of clever lyrics with Eyelar. This record shows great versatility from Y.A.S., who approaches this release like a pop anthem, rather than her more, heavy R&B influenced previous releases.
There was no need for dramatic, powerful vocals here, as the beat marries the singer’s enchanting vocals well enough. Applying some catchy melodies to the hook, Y.A.S. gives off a light-hearted vibe even when touching on some deeper, internal issues. Invites listeners further into her mind, the growing artist explains:
“100 years is about thoughts. My mind was in an environment where there was no break in-between thoughts, especially negative thoughts. It was like my thoughts were thinking for themselves and I had no control over them. There was no space to feel anything, just think. And because of the volume  of thoughts going around and around it was like I’ve lived 100 years in my mind.”
“This song is about the deeper part of me that craves expression and love feeling lost and forgotten, unable to breakthrough the mental barrier.”

With much conversation on social media now surrounding mental health, it’s good to see music follow suit. Be sure to stream “100 Years” via SoundCloud below or on major streaming platforms soon.
