Colin Kaepernick becomes the face of Nike’s latest “Just Do It” Campaign
Standing up for racial injustice, American football player Colin Kaepernick was subtly ousted from the NFL after taking a knee during the national anthem.
Although, whilst having the freedom to protest peacefully, the controversial act resulted in major backlash from fans, U.S. patriots, and much of the media/press. This makes it even more special for Nike to use Kaep as the face for their celebratory (30th) “Just Do It” campaign.
Iterations of classic models have been releasing all year, including the Air Force One, Air Max 95, Air Max One, Air Presto and more. This seems to be the icing on the cake from the brand, who also stood by their athlete Serena Williams when controversy struck the tennis great last month.
Now a free agent, Kaep hasn’t been able to sign with a team since the incident. However, famous faces, charitable organisations and even other players, have all stood in support of the record-breaking quarterback. Nike are the latest to do so, co-signing the icon’s tweet:
