Kanye West Says he is running for President in 2024
Kanye West has some news, he’s pushing back his planned presidential bid until the 2024 election.
West previously stated at the 2015 MTV Video Music Awards that he wanted to run in the 2020 election. In spite of the setback, the rapper remains confident that he’s got a chance at winning the U.S. presidency.
The rapper and producer revealed his plan in a recent conversation with DJ Pharris on radio station Power 92 Chicago.
West told Pharris, “If I decide to do it, it will be done. I’m not going to try,”. He then added, “Yes, 100 percent it could happen… 2024.”
In the interview, West identified himself as a political centrist, mentioning how he “had love” for President Donald Trump and Senator Bernie Sanders.
“For someone to say you can’t ride with both sides… it’s like a modern idea of gangbanging or something,” he clarified. “It’s divisions. We don’t need to think in divisions. We need to think in arms because we’re actually one race, one people, one civilization.”
The delay of West’s presidential run also means that he won’t go up against Trump, whom he has previously shown support for. However, Kanye did reveal that he doesn’t agree with certain Trump policies also that health care would be his primary concern.
West, who has been very vocal on various matters during his career, gained attention and criticism for his support for Trump and saying he believes slavery “sounds like a choice.” He’s since apologized for his comments and said he wants to carry on having conversations about racism.
