Mick Jenkins demonstrates modern rap brilliance with “Pieces of a Man” album
Chicago lyricist Mick Jenkins finally drops his awaited sophomore album, “Pieces of a Man“, which displays some of the very best in contemporary rap/hip-hop.
The talented artist cements his place in the genre by offering something no other rapper does and delivering it wonderfully at that. Not known for working with biggest names anyway, Mick Jenkins often pulls from more interesting sources for collaborations. Knowing his character, it’s likely these individuals are his peers anyway.
Features include the likes of Julian Bell, Mikahl Anthony, Ben Hixon, Ghostface Killah, Corinne Bailey Rae and BadBadNotGood. The album explores topics of consent, racial tension, black on black violence, and issues throughout life in general. Commonly introspective in his raps, Mick remains consistent with his dense content.
