Serving as Umbro’s lightest ever leather boot, the limited Medusae 3 Elite football boots hit the label’s official website this weekend.
K-leather construction helps to build the strike area, which makes for a smoother feel down the middle of the foot. Comfort and functionality are the two clear focuses here for the brand, who also infuses a knitted collar. TPU heat welded support and enables easy foot entry.
Weighing just 170g, the laceless pair has already been worn by the likes of goalkeeper Ashlyn Harris (U.S. Women & Orlando Pride) and central defender Pepe (Portugal & Beşiktaş). Dropping initially as a limited drop, the wider release hits most sports retailers and Umbro themselves early 2019.
Pulling from the brand’s classic Speciali boot, the new release features debossed flex grooves and a mainly black and white colourway. This update of the design harnesses Marine Green studs and accents.
Furthermore, the pair’s lightweight build enables it to withstand the most agile of tests, offering a Pebax outsole and conal shape studs. The geometry and position of the studs were decided by player feedback and analysis, which determined peak pressure points. Silicone grip pods and a “lockdown” fit adds to the security to its overall feel.
