Instagram is Putting a Stop to Fake Followers and Paid For Likes

Instagram is attempting to end “inauthentic activity. Users building up their following through third-party apps to gain more likes, follows and comments, better watch out.

“Every day people come to Instagram to have real experiences, including genuine interactions,” Instagram wrote in its blog post. “It is our responsibility to ensure these experiences aren’t disrupted by inauthentic activity”.

The platform has already started removing such activity machine via learning tools that help to identify the targeted accounts. If an account is targeted, the holder will then be notified that any inauthentic account activity has been removed.

“This type of behaviour is bad for the community,” the post reads. Third party apps that generate false interaction violate service’s community guidelines and terms of use.

Many services that provide inauthentic services such as Instagress and Social Growth have recently been shut down.  Instagram’s crackdown on fake follower services come as it also doubled down on fake accounts in August.

The social media site this isn’t the only measure they are taking.  There are additional measures to crack down coming in the coming weeks.
