The Hepworth Prize for Sculpture

The Hepworth Gallery has recently announced that its winner for the second prize was awarded to sculptor Creity Wyn Evans.

Awarded during a special dinner at The Hepworth Wakefield on November 15th. the winner was decided by a panel of judges from various galleries and art institutions, including the Director of The Tate Liverpool & Camden Arts Center.

Most noteworthy for his influence within art, history, philosophy, and science, Evans’s constantly aims to transform our perceptions of the world.

Coming out on top of a shortlist of artists, that were all pushing the boundaries of how sculptures are created and consumed by the audience, you can check out his sculpture work in our gallery above.

“As we stand before the work, our breath cycles through the pumps and sounds through the flutes. It is as if we hear the sound of our own presence”

The pieces are on display now at The Hepworth until January 20th, 2019.
