230 New Emojis Set To Release This Year

Only a few days ago, Unicode Consortium approved a massive 230 new emojis that will be released later this year.

As the sixth major update since 2014, the new range continues to broaden its diversity and inclusivity. However, of course, the new range includes the usual touch of silliness.

The holding-hands couple options now have more female representation and six new skin tones available.  Wheelchair users are now also represented in the full range of skin tones along with a motorized wheelchair alternative.

Some other great additions include a flamingo, a pinching hand and Hindu temple. And for the food lovers, you can now text a waffle, garlic, onion and butter plate. As for one of the cutest additions, there is now a sloth and the cutest little otter.

In total, the update is comprised of 59 distinct new emojis; 75 when gender variations are taken into account; and 230 new emojis when all skin tone options are included

The new icons are available for all to use in March for all phone systems. Check out the new additions above and take a full look at Emojipedia.
