Big Sean opens up about facing mental health issues
In the last few days, Big Sean has become the talk of the town. He took to social media to talk about his mental health and how it’s impacted his career. He opened up about how it caused him to cancel one of his tours in 2018.
Openly sharing his experience, Big Sean spoke about the importance of being at peace and having clarity with yourself as an individual. He stated that he founded a new source of energy by starting to do things he enjoyed such as skydiving. On Instagram, he said, “I wasn’t feeling myself and I couldn’t figure out why” and was unsure of how he started feeling lost. Big Sean also revealed he attended therapy to help him get through difficult times.
It’s not common for men, especially of colour, to express themselves when facing mental health issues. The artist, now 31 received an outstanding wave of support from many people. Nowadays it’s so easy for society to oversee that men suffer from depression and anxiety too. This leads to a lot of judging and criticism, when in fact, it’s not an unusual manner and it is normal to seek help when it’s needed.
