Anderson .Paak drops a video for Lockdown.
Anderson .Paak hits us with a powerful message “The People Are Rising” in the new song ‘Lockdown’. It’s a song which centres itself around the Black Lives Matter marches.
This heartfelt track from .Paak. addresses a lot of issues with the current climate for the black community. Which include unemployment, COVID and of course the Black Lives Matter movement and protests.
“Cause they throw away Black lives like paper towels, Plus unemployment rate what? 40 million now. Killed a man in broad day, might never see a trial”
This particularly stands out to us as It is just the latest in songs released regarding this topic as we’ve seen others like Lil Baby, J Cole and Noname do the same.
The Oxnard based artist releases a 4-minute video accompanying the song which featured fellow artists Jay Rock, Syd and SiR just to name a few.
Dave Meyers, famous for Kendrick’s – Humble video, as well as others including Jay-Z’s – Dirt Off Your Shoulder and Outkast’s – B.O.B.
The visual sees cameo and acapella from TDE’s Jay Rock exclusively for the visual.
The end of the video states that .Paak House (a non-profit organisation set up by Anderson) with cast & crew who worked on visual donate their pay to several different charities. These included Colour of Change, Dream Defenders and Black Emotional and Mental Health Collective (BEAM).
This visual lists black individuals brutally murdered by police including George Floyd, Trayvon Martin and Breonna Taylor.
